Elbridge, NY - October 9, 2009 - By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director
Super DIRT Week XXXVIII has turned into super damp week with Rolling Wheels Raceway Park losing its Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series doubleheader on Friday to persistent showers.
Just two days earlier, Can-Am Motorsports Park suffered the same fate while Brewerton Speedway took advantage of clear skies to attract a record crowd to the storied Route 11 oval on Thursday night.
Neither show at Rolling Wheels nor Can-Am will be rescheduled, although the Sportsman Series feature postponed due to rain on Sept. 26 will accompany the big World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series show slated for Saturday at The Wheels.
Both DIRTcar 358-Modified and Sportsman classes will be back in tour action tomorrow as they headline the Saturday portion of Super DIRT Week at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. Over 40 Small-Block cars are ready to battle for bragging rights in the 'Salute To The Troops' 150-lap Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Series title race Saturday on the Syracuse Mile, followed immediately by the 30-lap main for Sportsman in their annual Salt City stop.
Dale Planck leads reigning overall Mr. DIRTcar points king Pete Bicknell in the 358-Modified Championship shootout while Chris Raabe stands ahead of Ryan Susice in quest of his second straight title in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman ranks. Coincidentally, both leads have shrunk to 52 points with each division champion crowned later in the month.
