Saskatoon, SK, Wednesday July 29, 2009: Anthony Simone driving the No. 95 Crown Modular, United Lumber Monte Carlo finished the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 in fifth place. This was event number seven in the 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series tour of thirteen. With the three race Western Canada swing now wrapped up Simone posted sixth, tenth and fifth place finishes.
Simone who races out of Bradford, Ontario was in the top ten during practice and a little slip in time trials put them back to eleventh quickest for the start of the 250 lap event.
The handling on the Simone entry was off early in the race and he fell back a few positions before the caution came out and he was able to head to pit road for adjustments. After the team made the changes Simone steadily worked his way back to the lead front. After the midway point in the race the No. 95 Crown Modular, United Lumber driver came back down pit road for tires and when all stops had been completed only six cars were being scored on the lead lap with Simone being shown in second. While the car was handling better it was no match for the front three of Steckly, Thomson and Kennington. ``The car started out lose but we came in for an adjustment early and that helped a lot,`` said Simone after the race. ``My crew did a great job on our stops and I really like the track and hope we come back again next year.``
Finish 1. Scott Steckly 2. Don Thomson Jr. 3. D. J. Kennington 4. Jason Hathaway
