Race official collecting money and supplies for Haiti

Many of you may know Blaine Bates in his capacity as a race official with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. But during the week, the Bowmanville, ON resident is a paramedic in Ontario's Durham Region. Blaine also has a personal family connection to Haiti and he's going above and beyond the call of duty to collect and deliver supplies to help the relief effort.

Click here to read a great article about what he's doing, on newsdurhamregion.com (the above photo is from that site).

Speaking with Blaine yesterday, he said that no item or donation is too small. There is a great need for things like:
  • Sugar
  • Table Salt
  • Drink Crystals
  • Candles
  • Hats
  • Clothing
  • Empty Prescription / Vitamin / 35 mm Film Bottles
  • Children's Items
  • Large Rubbermaid / Sterilite Totes
Blaine has already collected a lot of items for the cause and he's looking for more. He's had incredible support from his employer and he wants to spread the word through the racing community so they can help, too.

If you are able to make a monetary donation or you can donate any of the items listed above, please contact Blaine directly at: blaine.bates@sympatico.ca // blaine.bates@durham.ca // or call 905-914-0261.
