Antigonish, NS - Komatsu 300 - Riverside Speedway - These were almost the first words spoken by Racin’ Jason White in a post-race interview.
The pride of Sun Peaks, British Columbia cracked the Top Ten in the Komatsu 300 at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia after many disappointing finishes this year.
Last year’s NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Rookie of the Year has had a tough second year. Technical problems and just plain bad luck have made this a season a difficult time for the ever-competitive Jason White.
Difficulties still plagued Jason on Sunday. He suffered a flat tire but some great driving kept him in the top ten.
The race was rain-delayed from Saturday to Sunday afternoon. So when race time neared, the drivers were eager to get the show on the road.
The pace was furious as the drivers battled for position. Then it happened. Just when things appeared to be going so well, Jason suffered a flat tire. Into the pits he went and the A&W Drive Thru Pit Crew went to work. Only seconds passed, but it must have seemed like an eternity to Jason as his competitors roared on, before once again the A&W #21 car charged back into the action. Using the high groove and beeing one of the fastest cars on the track for the last 75laps. The furious pace only concluded when the checkered flag was dropped.
From a 15th spot in the starting grid, and despite a flat tire, Jason White had his first top ten finish in a while.
“It could have been a better finish, but I will take a top ten anytime, especially the way this season has gone.” White said.
But despite, some tough luck this season, a good finish next week could possibly vault Western Canada’s only full-time driver on the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series circuit into the Top Ten for the season.
Racin’ Jason is looking forward to this week in Peterborough Ontario. It is the last race on schedule for 2009. Jason says, “I have run well in the past at Kawartha. I like that track. And, with this race finishing on a positive note, I just can’t wait for next week!”
Jason and the A&W Drive Thru Pit Crew hope to see you next Saturday evening, Sept. 26, at Kawartha Speedway in the Z-Line Designs 250 presented by the Dodge Dealers of Ontario and Coca-Cola.
A&W food services of Canada, is Canada's original hamburger quick service restaurant chain, and today is one of its fastest growing. The first A&W drive-in restaurant in Canada opened on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg in 1956. The combination of great tasting burgers, onion rings and frosted mugs of famous A&W Root Beer served by friendly carhops was an instant hit. Since then, A&W has continued to grow and evolve with the times, expanding into over 700 locations from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland. At the heart of that growth is the fact that, while so much of our world has changed, the simple things that made A&W so popular in its early days are the same today. We still serve A&W Root Beer in frosted mugs. Our onion rings are made fresh from whole onions every day. With a rich history behind us, we look forward to an even more exciting future ahead of us. A&W is expanding all across Canada, with particular emphasis on Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic. On your way to the next NASCAR CANADIAN TIRE SERIES race, be sure to "CRUISE " into an A&W near you!! See you at the races!!
