OSCAAR OUTLAWS: Inside Track Motorsport News Rookie of The Year Driver Preview... Shane Gowan

The next Inside Track Motorsport News Rookie of The Year candidate didn’t even know he would be racing with OSCAAR until early March. That is when Shane Gowan took possession of his Jeff Hanley chassis. This car already has a winning tradition in OSCAAR as Pee Wee Evans and TJ Woolsey both achieved success in the car.

Shane Gowan will be relying on his ten years of racing experience to get the newly numbered #39 Outlaw into victory lane.

Shane’s racing career began in the thunder car class at Flamborough Speedway before he moved up to the late model class. Throughout Shane’s career he has won many heats and features. Shane has also been recognized for his driving style by winning Most Sportsman like Driver, Best Effort Award and Most Improved Driver. Anyone familiar with Shane and his team knows the great pride they put into their race car. That hard work paid off with the team receiving The Best Appearing Car award as well.

Shane may have a little advantage over his other rookie contenders as he has some experience at the various tracks that OSCAAR competes at. Even with that, Shane knows that he will need to learn and take his time as he adjusts to racing with the top level drivers who are in OSCAAR. The one thing that won’t change in the way Shane races is that he wants to continue to have fun and represent his sponsors in the best possible way.

When asked: Why the move to OSCAAR? Shane is quick to respond “these are the fastest cars in Ontario, they look awesome, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to race against the drivers in OSCAAR.”

Shane is also quick to acknowledge the great sponsors that will fill the quarter panels of his Outlaw. Lucas Oil continues their long relationship with the team as their primary sponsor. Also, Street Soldier Clothing, Hallett Fabrication, Reclaim Ent., Partimer Signs, Grisdale Racing Enterprises, and Murfin Truck and Equipment will all play an important role in the #39s racing efforts in 2010.

May 23rd is circled on the calendar in the team’s shop as that will mark Shane’s OSCAAR debut and yet another chapter in his racing career.

OSCAAR would like to welcome the entire #39 team and their sponsors to the series and wish them the best of luck in the 2010 racing season.
