Mr. DIRTcar 358 racers ready to rack up hometrack points

New York 358-Modified teams competing in the Small-Block class to earn valuable bonus points towards the coveted Mr. DIRTcar crown will no longer have to travel, at least on the weekend from their customary home track.

Beginning with the 2010 season-openers, sister tracks Brewerton Speedway (April 16) and Fulton Speedway (April 10), Glen Ridge Motorsports Park (April 23) and Cayuga County Fair Speedway (April 18) will not only be awarding Big-Block home track bonus points, but will also be offering home track bonus points towards the overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Championship as well.

DIRTcar Racing Northeast Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning Joe Skotnicki, Cayuga County General Manager Cory Reed, Glen Ridge Promoter Mike Romano and Harvey Fink, promoter of both Brewerton and Fulton, agreed this is a great way to support area 358-Modified teams and keep them coming back.

"Wherever someone finishes in the Modified feature is where that driver will be placed when it comes to earning weekly points, the key here is participation,” noted Gary Spaid, DIRTcar NE Points keeper. "Although we won’t officially declare a 358-Modified Track Champion at the end of our season, we still want to afford those regular small-block runners that choose to travel the tour a legitimate shot at winning the overall title. Last year Dale Planck earned Mr. DIRTcar 358 honors using Fulton as his home track."

In order to qualify for DIRTcar 358-Modified points, drivers will receive separate bonus points based on where they stand in Big-Block points at Brewerton (Fri.), Glen Ridge (Fri), Fulton (Sat.) or Cayuga County (Sun.) through Labor Day.
