NASCAR Canadian Tire Series - Jason White Trois-Rivieres Report

“It was a beaten bashin type race!” - Those were the post race comments of Racin’ Jason White after the GP3R 100 in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series from the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres on Sunday afternoon. White went on to say, “It was tough day at the race track”.

A crowd of more than 25,000 Canadian race car fans were treated to a “rockem, sockem” race with lots action from start to finish.

Jason started in the 23rd spot. His A&W#21 car performed well from the start. He had climbed all the way to 14th, but then problems occurred.

White said, “I hit the wall in turn 2, I hit some oil and had to get a bunch of body panels ripped off.”

“The A&W Drive Thru pit crew did a great job and the car was still fast after this incident, but I was now down 2 laps.”

By Lap 33, White had fought his way back up to 18th spot. Six laps later he was 16th and when the checkered flag dropped Jason was in 15th.

It was a tough hard fought race. The fierce competition was made even tougher because of the weather conditions.

Jason said, “The heat was bad, but the humidity was just plain nasty!” “Two drivers went to the hospital from heat exhaustion.”

Despite his 15th place finish, Western Canada’s only full time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series driver saw some positives from the race.

“Finishing 15th is OK considering our mishaps, the car is a bit the worse for wear though. We finished the race with no hood and practically no front end!”

The ever-positive White says that he is “looking forward to two weeks from now and the last road race of year”. And then he smiles and says, “Then it is back to the ovals for the final three events of the year.”

You can see Jason White and his A&W #21 car in action next when the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series is on the track next on Sunday, Aug. 30 at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for the AUTOPRO 100 just prior to the NASCAR Nationwide Series event. You can bet that the pride of Sun Peaks B.C. will be gunning for a top ten finish!

A&W food services of Canada, is Canada's original hamburger quick service restaurant chain, and today is one of its fastest growing. The first A&W drive-in restaurant in Canada opened on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg in 1956. The combination of great tasting burgers, onion rings and frosted mugs of famous A&W Root Beer served by friendly carhops was an instant hit. Since then, A&W has continued to grow and evolve with the times, expanding into over 700 locations from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland. At the heart of that growth is the fact that, while so much of our world has changed, the simple things that made A&W so popular in its early days are the same today. We still serve A&W Root Beer in frosted mugs. Our onion rings are made fresh from whole onions every day. With a rich history behind us, we look forward to an even more exciting future ahead of us. A&W is expanding all across Canada, with particular emphasis on Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic. On your way to the next NASCAR CANADIAN TIRE SERIES race, be sure to "CRUISE " into an A&W near you!! See you at the races!!
