For 2010 Grand Bend Motorplex will be adding an exciting new race series sponsored by Rudy Held’s Performance Centre, Armando’s Pizza and Amherst Quarries. The new EXTREME 32 series will be a bracket program based on the quickest 32 vehicles in the park (based on entry/qualifying).
The series is open to door cars, dragsters, altereds, motorcycles, etc. and is currently 6 races on 3 race weekends - May 22/23rd, July 3/4th and Aug 21/22nd(with the possible addition of one more weekend/2 races July31/Aug1).
“We would really like to thank our sponsors for helping us to provide this great opportunity for all those Top Sportsman/Top Dragster competitors who ran the GBM program in 2009 and for those Bike, Top ET and other competitors looking for additional race opportunities” says GBM owner Paul Spriet. “We averaged a combined 23 cars in TD/TS in 2009 and with the number of new competitors who have showed interest in this program we expect to see full fields and great payouts ” says Spriet.
GBM’s general Manager Ron Biekx believes the new program will definitely spark some interest. “We think the fans will get a real kick out of seeing cars, dragsters, altereds and bikes all running together at speeds in excess of 140MPH , it is something we haven’t done before at GBM”. Biekx says.
The EXTREME 32 series consists of a $50 membership fee and entry fees of $150/race, ($130/entry goes to the purse with the full field payout being $4160) payouts go back to the quarter finalists and the year end points program is $3000 in cash and contingencies. Each race weekend will be a race Saturday and a race Sunday, consisting of 2 Qualifiers (Non qualifiers will receive a $100 GBM credit), followed by eliminations.
