Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints: Northwood 2 Construction/LaSalle Motorsports return to sponsor Canadian Sprint Car Series

SYRACUSE, NY – For the second consecutive season, Mike and Lori LaSalle and their Northwood 2 Construction business will be the main sponsor of the very lucrative Canadian Sprint Car Series.  In conjunction with their LaSalle Motorsports division, the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) is proud to have the LaSalle’s back as tremendous supporters.

Proved very popular last year, once again a point fund that has already increased past $10,000 will be awaiting the top 15 drivers in points at the events held “North of the Border”.  Northwood 2 Construction/LaSalle Motorsports along with several associate sponsors have pooled together to make all events in Canada a bit more enticing.

Full point shows for 2010 consist of two each at Autodrome’s Drummond, Edelweiss and Granby with single point events at Ohsweken and Le RPM Speedway which will host the first ever appearance for the stars and cars of ESS.  Also, new for 2010 and per request of the sponsors, the event on Aug. 6th at Mohawk International Raceway will count towards the Canadian Series as well.  Located on the Akwesasne Reservation where many residents carry dual citizenships, it would be fitting to include this popular facility as well.

Last year the Canadian Sprint Car Series came down to the final event at Ohsweken when Jeff Cook took a thrilling victory over a 52 car field at Ohsweken.  The win enabled him to slip past Alain Bergeron to claim the title which was worth over $2,000 in cash.

Following the top two were overall Lucas Oil champion Justin Barger, Steve Poirier and Lance Yonge.  All these drivers along with Michael Parent, Brian McDonald, Lee Ladouceur, Tommy Wickham, Chuck Hebing and Anthony Cain placed highly in the points last year and look to do the same.  Add the names of Tim Kelly, Shawn Donath, Jim Porter, Tyler Rand, Joe August, Chris Jones, Normand Beaudreault, Daniel Lampron, Paul Pekkonen, Dale Gosselin, Donald Lemire, Justin Harris, Sylvain Erickson, the Wilson Family and several others that have intentions of following most of not all the events in Canada fans can expect even more cars in the pits.

“Last year at our banquet we handed out $38,200 in cash.  We set out a goal for $40,000 this year and we are getting closer each day.” noted ESS President Chuck Miller.  “Of course the tremendous support of Lucas Oil anchors the entire tour.  Also with help of so many great racing people in ESS like the LaSalle’s, the teams that follow the tour are rewarded in November.”

The first event on the 27th Anniversary Tour for the very best of America’s Race Cars kicks off Sat. May 29th at the famed Fonda Speedway for the annual Earl Halaquist Memorial.  The first Canadian Sprint Car Series events will be the following weekend on June 4 and 5 with the first weekend trek to Granby and Drummond.
