CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Returns to Scotia Speedworld for Lucas Oil 100

CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Returns to Scotia Speedworld for Lucas Oil 100

(Halifax, NS, August 10, 2009) The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is returning to Scotia Speedworld for the second weekend in a row this coming Saturday, August 15 for the Lucas Oil 100. It will be the third and final Lucas Oil race of the season and the eighth leg of the summer series. Scotia Speedworld saw full throttle excitement this past weekend and fans can expect nothing less on Saturday! Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials will begin at 5:10pm, followed by the Dartmouth Dodge Dash for Cash at 6:00pm.  Tickets are available at the gate only. Main gates open at 3:00pm.

The change in venue for the Lucas Oil 100 was announced Saturday night following the Atlantic CAT 250. "Failure by both parties to reach a mutually acceptable agreement has resulted in the cancellation of the August 15th event at Centre For Speed in Shediac, NB." commented Ron Clarke, General Manager of the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour. “We will be working diligently with Centre for Speed to resolve these issues. We have a very strong fan base in New Brunswick and plan to race there for many years to come.”

There are valuable Championship points on the line this weekend and the competition for them is heating up. With only three more opportunities to accumulate points before this season’s Champion is crowned and only 25 markers separating the top five, this race is going to be exciting! Three of the top five drivers call Scotia Speedworld their home track. Shawn Turple of Enfield, NS currently sits in the top position, but with a mere three point lead over John Flemming of Halifax, NS.

Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS is the other home town favourite and he sits in forth position just one marker behind Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB. Rounding out your top five is Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, NB, who is 25 markers out of the first position and coming into the race with 250 laps of momentum after winning last weekend’s Atlantic CAT 250.

Greg Proude of Springvale, PE will be another driver to watch this weekend since he has taken the checkered flag at the other two Lucas Oil sponsored races this season. At the season opening Lucas Oil 100 back in May at Scotia Speedworld, Proude had the fastest time in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials, won the Dartmouth Dodge Dash for Cash, and led 81 of the 100 laps! He’ll be looking for a repeat of that performance on the weekend.

Fans will also be treated to a 50 lap Legend feature.

Admission for Saturday’s Lucas Oil 100 is $25.00 for adults; $5.00 for youth; pit admission is $30.00. Children 7 and under are admitted for free. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Pits are restricted to those 16 and older. Tickets will also be available on race day only.
