Edelweiss Speedway: Ontario DIRT Late Models on tap for August 14

Roger Monderie Dream Day Fundraiser and the visit of the Ontario DIRT Late Model next Friday, August 14 at Edelweiss Speedway!

Cantley, PQ – Sunday August 9, 2009 – Martin Bélanger – The fans of dirt track racing of Edelweiss Speedway will have 2 good reasons to be at the speedway next Friday, August 14 on Coffrage Ti-Guy Connelly Night.

The first one, the speedway will have a special fundraiser for Roger Monderie`s dream day, Monderie have a special day for several years now in the Outaouais region for a child or family who are in special needs or have an handicap. Drivers will circulate during the intermission to collect funds and also fans will be able to buy tickets at 2$ each and will have a chance to win a 10-people corporate suite rental for Friday, August 21 program and also 4 packages of 4 tickets for another event at the speedway to help out Mr. Monderie and his future projects.

The second one, a very special event on the track with the first visit of the Ontario DIRT Late Model series that will take part in a special 3-track series called Eastern DIRT Late Model Challenge. Peter Mantha a regular runner in a modified at Edelweiss and also runs with the World of Outlaws Late Model will be one to watch as he will be on of the favourites to win the 30-lap feature. Boom Briggs from Pennsylvania is another driver to watch as he stands first in points, Mike Knight and Greg Oakes from New-York State will also be some of the top runners. Many drivers from Ontario will make the haul to the speedway. These cars are very powerful and have engines of more that 800 horsepower and the speed they travel are comparable to the sprint cars that make visits at Edelweiss during the season.

The modifieds will also see some action for a 30-lap feature event along with the Semi-Pro and Mod-Lite. The 4-cylinder class will have a night off. General admission to get in will be 25$ for adults, 21$ for students and seniors, kids 12 years and under will get in for free. Pit admission will be 35$.
