Merrittville Speedway: Rain delays Enduro qualifier a week

RAIN DELAYS ENDURO QUALIFIER A WEEK – JOINS AVONDALE FOOD STORES LUCAS OIL SPORTSMAN SHOOTOUT

Thorold, Ontario (August 10) For the fourth time of 2009, rain played a major role at Merrittville Speedway – delaying the third Enduro Qualifier accelerated by Niagara College.

Avondale Food Stores Night August 15th was set to feature the rain-delayed 50 lap Lucas Oil Shoot Out for Sportsman and the King of the Pits Contest and with the Enduro added – the Pit Crews will have to wait until another night to shine.

“It sure was unfortunate,” relayed (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell, “late afternoon cancellations are almost as bad as those after we have opened … some of the race teams were on their way to the track and several Enduro cars had already arrived.”

“There’s just so much we have to catch up on,” informs Bicknell, “The King of the Pits Contest is a favorite for all of us … especially the race teams … but we really have no choice but to reschedule it.”

A date for the King of the Pits Contest has yet to be determined.

Also scheduled to be part of the CMH Sales & Leasing Night was the Help a Child Smile Meridian Credit Union Kids Club Box Car Races and that portion of the night has been reset to join Saturday August 29th’s Ball Hockey International Minor Sports Night assisted by the Niagara Ice Dogs.
