Cantley, PQ – Edelweiss Speedway starts his 2010 season this Friday, May 14, 2010 on Dupont and Dupont night with a 50-lap Syracuse Qualifier for the modifieds along with a complete race program for the Semi-Pro, Mini-Stock and Mod-Lite. A good night for the fans to see the new paint schemes on the cars.

A good field of cars will be on hand in the modified, several drivers have confirmed their presence for the 50-lap feature race. Nearly 20 cars will be in the pits. The 2009 champion, Pierre Dagenais will hope to start the season with a win but the competition will be strong with the venue of Danny O'Brien that is scheduled to be at Edelweiss for 6 races including the opener on the 14th. The Gauvreau brothers will also be contenders like Peter Mantha that confirmed that he will race a minimum 10 races in 2010. In the Semi-Pro category, we can expect a great amount of drivers for the next season. All the regular drivers will be back and some new drivers will join the group. A lot of action is expected in the 15-lap feature race.

Dean Pronovost will lead the pack in the Mod-Lite class with some new drivers added to the field; a total of 9 regular runners will be at the speedway each night along with drivers with eastern quebec making the haul down to Edelweiss several times during the summer to boost the car count to 13-15 cars.

The new Mini-Stock category will bring surprises during the summer. With the changes in the ruling during winter time, 4 and 6 cylinders vehicles will now be accepted in the new class. Most of last year`s drivers will be back and some new faces will be added. Edelweiss management hopes that new ruling will add several new cars to the track.
