Seibert scores win at Motoplex Speedway; Williams Lake standout wins first of 2010 in Vernon, BC

May 16, 2010, WILLIAMS LAKE, BC – Ryley Seibert seized opportunity Saturday at Vernon’s Motoplex Speedway to score his first victory of 2010. The Williams Lake, BC, teenager avoided a late race crash to take the lead and drive his street stock to victory lane.
While the event ended successfully, Seibert and his team battled mechanical trouble throughout the day.
“The car handled great all day long,” said Seibert. “But we had carburetor trouble through practice and qualifying that was slowing us down in the corners.”
Despite the mechanical trouble Seibert qualified in the top five for the 50 lap main event. They solved the mechanical trouble, and Seibert challenged the front runners from the drop of the green flag.
“I ran in third for quite awhile,” said Seibert. “The car was great in the corners, but I still think we’re a little short on horsepower.
“I was right behind the leaders when they crashed, but I was able to get by with the lead.”
Seibert led the final 10 laps holding off all challenges to take his first win of the young season.
“It feels great to get the first win out of the way,” he said. “Hopefully it’s the first of many.”
The victory puts Seibert solidly in the top five in Motoplex Speedway’s points standings, but it creates an intriguing problem for Ryley. Seibert is in the top five in the points standings in both the ARCA West Sportsman series and the Motoplex Speedway street stocks.
In coming weeks the two divisions will compete on the same day forcing Seibert to decide where to focus his attention.
“It’s a good problem to have,” said Seibert. “We’ll spend the next few days deciding on the best plan for the season. For now it’s great to be so competitive this early in the year.”
