Brighton Speedway: Dollar Dogs and Duel in the Dirt!
The 2010 Season Opener has been held over for a week as Mother Nature vents her May fury with a whirlwind weekend of weather. Drivers, fans and staff alike were all ready and rarin’ to get racing till the rain and cold put a damper on the plans. The Coca Cola Full Throttle $2.00 night has been held over until next year but fans can be sure to catch all the action this weekend May 15 as Campbellford Chrysler present the Dollar Dogs night featuring the Bainer’s Radiators Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, Bill’s Johns Comp 4’s and the Quinte Towing 6 Cylinder Stingers.
Also racing will be the Comp 4 Mechanics race, providing an exciting opportunity for those who work tirelessly on these cars to try their hand behind the wheel.
The Brighton Speedway Pro Stocks will also begin their quest for their annual Duel on the Dirt versus the Merrittville Speedway. This Saturday nights 40 lap main event is one of five Duel in the Dirt events at Brighton this season where drivers will compete in this home track event to gain valuable points towards the overall Duel in the Dirt Big 6 Championship.
This weekend marks the start of the 2010 quest to beat out the Merrittville Hoosier Stocks once and for all. These six races include two combined events, one at home and one away, for an overall purse payout of $3000.00 to those drivers who participate in all of the scheduled events.
“The Duel in the Dirt competition is an exciting and fun way for our drivers to try their hand on a different racing surface and compete against another group of individuals,” said Angela Rinaldi, General Manager of Brighton Speedway.
Added to edge of your seat excitement expected on Saturday is the first ever Dollar Dog Night. The Speedway’s jumbo hotdogs will be on sale for only a $1.00 all night long.
Once the action on the track begins it is full speed ahead until October, with awesome racing and grand displays of sportsmanship and ability on the 1/3rd mile clay oval. The racing surface, the facility, the drivers and their crews are anxious to show. Join us at the Brighton Speedway, every Saturday at 7:00 pm and join in the fun. More details can be found at brightonspeedway.com or by emailing the Speedway Office at info@brightonspeedway.com. Don’t hesitate; be sure to make your plans to hit the dirt track this weekend.
