Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship: Media Racing Team joins the big leagues!

Mosport Park (Ontario), May 17th 2009.- Media Racing Team and driver Jocelyn Fecteau will step up this season to the most challenging touring car championship in the country as they join the Canadian Touring Car Championship, a series that will visit six different venues in Ontario and Quebec over eight double header weekends. Fecteau came in third in the final standings last year when he entered the Quebec XTreme Touring series in the Super Touring class. In order to stretch his legs with his new Toyota Corolla XRS, Fecteau was  in Mosport, Ontario, this weekend for the traditional Victoria race fest. However, electronic gremlins prevented him from starting both rounds.

Media Racing Team is the only team representing Toyota among the 56 cars entered in the championship", notes Fecteau about his XRS Corolla sedan. "It's a big challenge for our crew and a tremendous learning curve for all of us at Media Racing Team. We see this as a season to hone our skills since all the tracks but Trois-Rivières are new and we have no racing data whatsoever."

Beside the famous GP3R event (August 15 and 16), the Mont-St-Grégoire native will take to the track on new territory when he visits Mosport, Shannonville, Calabogie and Toronto (Indy GP) in Ontario, while the ICAR facility in Mirabel has been largely upgraded (June 27-28 and September 5 and 6).

In Mosport this weekend, electronics played a major factor and prevented Fecteau from starting races. Nevertheless, he was able to take part in the free pratice sessions and discover how much of a challenge the famous racetrack was. "We will have some private sessions as soon as this week in order to be ready for the next rounds in Shannonville at the end of May" comments Fecteau. "We could also enter a local race at ICAR. Our goal is to be ready for Shannonville and build on what we will learn when we return to Mosport and for the Grand Prix de Mirabel in June. The workload is huge and nights will be short but each and everyone on the crew is willing to pay the price. We figure we can get good results by mid-season in Mirabel, in front  of our home crowd."

The Media Racing Team XRS Corolla is entered in the CTCC Touring class. Fecteau explains how challenging it is for the team: " With the XRS, we have no comparison points with other teams and we must find the proper setups for each venue. This is why 2009 will be a season to learn and we must take the car to the final stripe in order to do this. First finish... and one day finish first!"
