2009 Season Roars into Action this Weekend at Speedway660

FREDERICTON, NB - It’s that time of year again, winter is over, let the summer festivities begin.  It has been a long winter and the wait is over. Race fans this Saturday the engines will be revving and the dust flying at for the 16th season at the Speedway 660 for the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener. There will be points racing in every division, the Coast Tire Street Stocks, the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, Irving Lubricants Pro Stocks and newly added AOW to the night’s event schedule.  This event will go underway at a 7pm-race time with heats, dashes ad features in all divisions.

Each year at the speedway we anticipate what the new year will bring and each year the racing gets better and better. This year there will be just as exciting.  Some of the new things that are happening this season include the addition of two new race divisions, AOW and 4-cylinder, drivers moving to different divisions, new drivers, returning drivers, new pain schemes and exciting events, we have it at happening this season at Speedway 660. It’s going to be WicKID Family Fun.

In the Coast Tire Street Stock division Rick Cashol ended the 2008 race season on a high note picking up the points championship and will be back to try and defend his title as competing in the sportsman division.  Brian Fox and Matheson will also be back for another season to try and take the points title.

Former Pro Stock diver Myles Harris has switched back to the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division where he is has had success in the past. Harris will be one of many drivers in this division looking to take the points championship in this very competitive division. Along with Harris, Glyn Nott, Michael Banks and Derek Christie just a few names that will be back for another season.

Former track Champion Brad Mann will be returning to Speedway 660 for his last season of racing.  Mann has been a regular at the speedway in past year and has had much success. Mann has won the Pro Stock championship multiple times at speedway 660 and this year will be back to try and at another title to his resume. More additions to the Pro Stock division include defending Sportsman Champion the Nackawic Night Train Brian Gillespie and Moncton’s Mike Kyle. Mike Kyle raced only a limited schedule at the speedway last season and is ready for the new reason.  Returning drivers include Matt Harris. Robert Tomlinson and last years Points Champion Grey Fahey to name a few.

There will be many more exciting things to come in the coming year at Speedway 660. More drivers, different paint schemes and events. This year the addition of the new classes, which will feature the AOW and 4-cylinder division, will be happening selected weeks at the speedway. 

Along with the addition of new divisions of racing this year will feature the Pro All Star Series from New England for a 200 lapper on June 13. The Triple Crown Series is coming new this season as well, leading up to the biggest event of the season, the Peterbilt 250 and SPEEDWEEKEND.  This will mark the last event of the 2009 season and always is a huge success drivers coming from all over Canada and the United States.

This weekend, don’t miss it, the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season promises to be a spectacular event.
