Canadian-based Brian Graham Racing/TLM Racing - Team Grote have announced the signing of Taylor Near to contest 2009 F1200 Championship Series.
Near, an 18 year-old Toronto Ontario native and graduate of the Bondurant High Performance Racing School, now rounds out the 3rd and final seat for TLM Racing’s multi-car effort contesting the 2009 F1200 Championship Series.
Heading into the May 8th test day at Mosport, the BGR-TLM owners were not sure what to expect from the inexperienced young racer. From the start of the test day, right through to the final session, which was run in increasingly heavy rain, the BGR-TLM owners were pleasantly surprised at Taylor’s performance.
Dave Matkovich Director of Driver Development for TLM was quoted, “You just never know about new drivers, regardless of their experience or track record. Taylor was definitely a surprise as he spent more time in the car coming up to speed as fast as he did on the big Mosport track. More important, he maintained a cool, calm, and collected demeanor throughout the day. He was very attentive to all the coaching and really applied all the information we gave him throughout the day.”
The 2009 F1200 Championship Series season begins with rounds 1 & 2 on May 29 & 30th at Shannonville Motorsports Park.
