NCATS: Kerry Micks preparing for new season in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series

MOUNT ALBERT, ONTARIO (May 19, 2009) – One of Canada’s best stock car racers will be returning to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series for 2009. Kerry Micks, driver of the Micks Motorsports team, will return to the national stock car series with his Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion, and is looking forward to a successful season.

‘We did well last year,” commented the veteran racer from Mount Albert, Ontario, “but we’re planning on a better 2009.”

Micks added he was pleased with the initial outing in the Ford, a test session held at Delaware Speedway recently. He turned in the fastest lap during the testing.

“It felt really good to get back out there,” said Micks. “The car responded to all of the changes we threw at it.”

The car will be powered by a new spec engine for 2009, a powerplant Micks believes will offer both performance and reliability.

“Our new engine program is off to a good start,” he said. “We’ve got the horsepower, and we believe the reliability to sustain a lot of racing for this year.”

“We are happy to have Beyond Digital Imaging Inc. (BDI) back as the team’s major sponsor for the third season,” added Micks. “We are also pleased to welcome our new partners – Royal Distributing, Thor Motors (Ford), Seguin Marina (Polaris), Steadymate and FXR.”

“Royal Distributing has been a regular stop on the way to the winter cottage this past season and one of my favorite places to shop for everything snowmobile and ATV,” said Micks.

“We are also very lucky to re-establish our relationship with Thor Motors - Ford dealership in Orillia. Bob Brown has been a friend for years and we are very fortunate to have them on board.”

Micks Motorsports also welcomes the return of Ultraflex, Canadian Detailing Services (CDS), Cathcart Trucking, NGK Spark Plugs and Castrol as associates for this year.

Micks placed fifth in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2008, and his year was highlighted with a victory on the Mosport oval track. He also had a pair of seconds, at Cayuga Speedway and Barrie Speedway, and placed third at the Quebec stops of Saint Eustache and Montreal.

This year’s tour will see Micks travel to 13 events across Canada, including new racing venues at Saskatoon and Delaware.
