NASCAR Canadian Tire Series - Racin Jason White Battles to a 15th Place Finish in the Dickies 200 at Mosport Raceway

“We survived to race another day.”

These were Jason White’s post-race comments after a 15th place finish in his A&W #21 car at the Dickies 200 at the Mosport International Raceway on Sunday.

The Sun Peaks, B.C. driver started in 21st position after posting a 96.269 mph qualifying time Saturday.

In what could best be described an “endurance test” for NASCAR Canadian Tire series drivers who are usually more comfortable with “oval racing”, the Mosport road course provided a real challenge.

The Mosport International Raceway is legendary in the history of Canadian car racing and the opportunity to drive this tough course in front of great auto racing fans was something that was not lost on Jason.

Racin Jason, after the race, said, “The car is in one piece, no damage was done and we survived to race another day.”

In further comments, White said that although he had “hoped for a better finish on this demanding road course”, he was “pleased that the car had performed well and finished the race in great condition”. After all, Jason said, “We really struggled with our car all weekend, it is a converted “oval car” so our hands are really tied with it for adjustability, but we did our best and brought her home in one piece.”

Near the race’s end, Jason had to drive carefully as he was running low on fuel and wondered if this might have cost him a place or two in the final standings. Racin Jason commenting further on the fuel issues said, “We were running out of fuel on the last few laps. Going through the tight turns the fuel pick-up would run ‘dry’ until we levelled-out. We actually ran completely out as we came down pit road after the race was over.”
The 15th place finish puts White in 12th position in season earnings, but with lots of races left he is confident that by season’s end he will be further up the standings.
The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series takes a few weekends off before hitting the track again on July 11 at Autodrome St. Eustache (Que.) for the Tide 250.
Jason is really looking forward to returning to the Quebec oval. Not only does he want to win the race against his fellow NASCAR Canadian Tire Series drivers, but he also wants to see how he “stacks up against former F1 and Indy 500 Champion legend Jacques Villeneuve who will also be competing”.

A&W food services of Canada, is Canada's original hamburger quick service restaurant chain, and today is one of its fastest growing. The first A&W drive-in restaurant in Canada opened on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg in 1956. The combination of great tasting burgers, onion rings and frosted mugs of famous A&W Root Beer served by friendly carhops was an instant hit. Since then, A&W has continued to grow and evolve with the times, expanding into over 700 locations from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland. At the heart of that growth is the fact that, while so much of our world has changed, the simple things that made A&W so popular in its early days are the same today. We still serve A&W Root Beer in frosted mugs. Our onion rings are made fresh from whole onions every day. With a rich history behind us, we look forward to an even more exciting future ahead of us. A&W is expanding all across Canada, with particular emphasis on Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic.

On your way to the next NASCAR CANADIAN TIRE SERIES race, be sure to "CRUISE " into an A&W near you!! See you at the races!!
