Two more "Top 10" for Fecteau and Media Racing Team

Bowmanville (Ontario), June 15th, 2009. - Media Racing Team and driver/owner Jocelyn Fecteau were back in Mosport, Ontario last weekend for the second visit of the Canadian Touring Car Championship on the legendary facility in 2009. Still experimenting teething problems with their Toyota Corolla XRS, they were able to clinch two more Top 10 finishes in this very competitive series.

“It was a busy weekend for our team”, explained Jocelyn Fecteau. “The car had a strong engine but we had some minor problems with our race gearbox, especially the differential. We had to rely on our standard transmission for both events and that meant leaving quite a few seconds on the track.”

The Mont-St-Grégoire driver was 11th in qualifying Saturday and inched his way to 9th when the first round was over in his Corolla XRS. On Sunday, he duplicated the same position. “At this point and time, we aim to get the car to the chequered flag” Fecteau added. ”Track time is very valuable for the crew and we learn a more every time we take to the track on a fifty-car grid – with around 15 in the Touring class. Once we get that gearbox situation solved, we will be pretty competitive and start passing more cars. We learned a lot this weekend in Mosport and worked on our setup from session to session. We will carry this lesson to our next event in Mirabel. The good news was the outstanding power we got out of our SDP race engine, the first time we pushed it to its very limit.”

The CTCC will meet again in two weeks, on June 27 and 28, at the new ICAR Complex in Mirabel, north of Montreal. It will be the first outing in Quebec on a concrete surface and the Media Racing Team Toyota Corolla XRS should be in full racing trim. It will be the second Grand Prix de Mirabel and the fourth double header of the 2009 season. “We hope to draw a lot of friends and fans for this program”, said Fecteau.
