NCATS: Micks gets bumped around on Mosport Road Course in Dickies 200

BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO (June 15, 2009) –After a terrific start to the season with two top-five performances, Kerry Micks  while running in the top-five during the early stages of the Dickies 200 at Mosport International Raceway on Sunday was an innocent victim of a blown engine from a competitor, and finished the 51-lap event in 16th spot.

Micks, driving the Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion, qualified third on the 2.459-mile road course for the third event in the 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tires Series. With about a third of the race completed, fellow racer Don Thomson, right in front of Micks, blew the engine in his car, and collected Micks as Thomson tried to keep his car under control.

“Donnie collected me in as he was spinning around,” related Micks after the race. “I thought he was going to stay out of the way, but that didn’t work out. We were running well in fourth spot, that’s racing.”

Micks was able to continue, but he was off the pace, finishing two laps down at the end of the race. He added his Micks Motorsports crew did a good job preparing and servicing the BDI race car for the first road course race of the season.

“I want to thank my team for a great job preparing the car,” he said. “We had a good-running car that was certainly a contender, everyone did a great job.” Andrew Ranger won the Dickies 200.
