NASCAR Canadian Tire Series - DILLEY HAS UP AND DOWN DAY IN NO. 9 DODGE

Bowmanville, ON, Sunday June 14, 2009: Mark Dilley driver of the No. 9 Dodge/Leland Industries Dodge Avenger started in the ninth position and finished tenth in the Dickies 200 at Mosport International Raceway today. This was event number three in the thirteen race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series coast to coast schedule.

Dilley was sixth quickest after the second practice session on Saturday morning and he went on to post the ninth quickest time in time trials later in the afternoon. “We aren’t quite where we need to be,” stated Dilley after qualifying. “My guys will work on it and get it better for me for the race.”

Sunday’s Dickies 200 had the No. 9 Dodge driver as far up in the field as second on lap nineteen of the fifty-one lap event. On lap twenty, under green Dilley brought his Dodge Avenger to pit road for four tires and fuel and returned to the track in sixteenth. While other teams were cycling through their stops, Dilley continued to climb toward the front of the pack again when a flat tire forced him back onto pit road. With 20 laps to go and no further cautions, Dilley was unable to catch the lead pack and was scored down one lap in tenth position at the checkered flag. “The guys worked on the car and got it where it needed to be,” stated Dilley. “We ran with Ronnie Beauchamp all day and he finished fifth, but a flat tire got us behind and we just couldn’t make it back up.”

Andrew Ranger started on the pole and won the event with a six second margin over second place sophomore driver Anthony Simone. J. R. Fitzpatrick came from the back to finish third after Jim Lapcevich practiced and qualified the car for him while he raced in the NASCAR Truck race last night in Michigan.

Dilley and his team will now have a three week hiatus before returning to Autodrome St. Eustache on Saturday July 11,th.
The Dickies 200 will be broadcast on TSN on Sunday June 28th at 11:30 a.m. EST.

Mark Dilley would like to acknowledge and thank all his associate and product supporters including Leland Industries, Mobile 1, Exide, Avenue Motorworks and CRS Trucking.
