DILLEY POSTS QUICKEST TIME AT DELAWARE TO TAKE POLE - Disappointment for Dilley Dodge Team With Sixteenth Place Finish

London, ON, Monday June 8, 2009: Mark Dilley driving the No. 9 Dodge Avenger posted his third NASCAR Canadian Tire Series pole on Saturday at Delaware Speedway in event number two of the 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Disappointment was to follow though as Dilley’s transmission failed late in the race event to relegate them to a sixteenth place finish.

Practice had Dilley’s No. 9 Dodge/Leland Dodge Avenger at the top of the charts all day so it was not surprising when he qualified the No. 9 on the front row for the start of the Delaware 200 presented by Belfor Restoration Services. “The car is a rocket,” stated Dilley. “It is probably one of the best cars I have ever driven,” stated the animated driver.

When the green dropped for the start of the race, Dilley quickly took his Dodge to the front of the pack. After several laps running point, Dilley would surrender the lead to D. J. Kennington who has a lot of experience on this his home track. While running with the lead pack around midpoint of the race, another car used Dilley’s car to slow down in the corner resulting in a spin for the No. 9 Dodge driver. By the time he was able to re-fire the engine he had lost a lap to the leaders. Dilley knew he still had a good car and that a couple of cautions could get them back on the lead lap. A few laps later the transmission failed and Dilley had only first and second gear probably a result of the hit and spin a few laps earlier. “I can’t tell you how disappointed I am tonight,” stated Dilley. “We had such a great car and I was just taking it real easy on the tires waiting for our chance to move up.”

Finish: 1. D. J. Kennington, 2. Ron Beauchamp Jr. 3. Scott Steckly 4. Kerry Micks 5. Anthony Simone 16. Mark Dilley.

The Delaware 200 presented by Belfor Restoration Services will be aired on TSN on Sunday June 14th at 11:30 a.m. EST.
